“Making them out to be the greatest exam of your life is corroding yourself with unnecessary pressure that takes a toll on your mental well being.” This is something we hear often. People say you should not treat an exam like the defining test of your life because it creates pressure and harms your mental well being. In an ideal world, that advice would make perfect sense. In a just and equal society, where opportunities are fairly distributed and outcomes are not so heavily skewed by privilege, perhaps no single exam would carry such weight. In many developed systems, there are multiple pathways, second chances, and safety nets that prevent one moment from determining everything. Unfortunately, we do not live in such a system.
